Collaboration with Julia S. Goodman

Gabriele Edlbauer and Julia S. Goodman celebrate the disorder of narratives. Food and food culture are an important inspiration for their works, in which culinary illusions and references creep in. This results in humorous installations of paintings and sculptures in which the artists combine elements from pop culture, art history and everyday experiences. They tempt us to take a closer look and trace the underlying impulses.
In this work, Gabriele Edlbauer and Julia Goodman refer to the tapestries “Kampf gegen die Laster und Tugenden” and “Wilde Leute” from the Historical Museum of the City of Regensburg. They take apart the content of the historical figures and symbols, transfer them to the present and develop new narrative threads. Their work thus becomes a witty homage to the historical models. Two large-format paintings are surrounded by ceramics in the shape of food containers, creating a visual feast.
